Time Stand Still

Time Stand Still is the third in the popular Carol Reed adventure series. Join Carol, a young English woman in her twenties, who now lives in Sweden . Carole stumbles on a new case while browsing through a local newspaper.

A seemingly haunted house leads her to a complicated chain of events, which go all the way back to World War II. The events include an unsolved murder from 60 years ago, secret love and characters long forgotten by history.

Characters appear in a series of still photographs, which show different facial expressions, and dialog is completed by way of clicking on different subjects in a notebook. The voiceovers are all generally pleasant. There’s also a new character in this game voiced by the multi-talented Jonathan Boakes.

Cheerfully for beginners, everything’s mouse-driven as well, allowing you to move through each location in pseudo-3D by clicking on arrows which cause you to step in a given direction or tilt your head for a change of view. The puzzles are a mixed lot of inventory and memory/logic. There are no timed puzzles, no mazes, and no sliders. There are color differentiations necessary, and also a sound puzzle. These, like most of the puzzles, have a bypass system which is a welcome addition to any game.
