The Games Definition

I guess for those new to online games, it can be confusing to see all the game definition. Probably you are already a season gamer, and the below glossary is nothing new to you, however you can also read this in your free time as a leisure reading.

This article can help to shed a light on the glossary of games' definitions that are commonly used. There are countless terms and definitions used, so I would mostly concentrate on most terms used in here in MabelGames website for game review.

Online Games

Online games means that the games that are played over some form of computer network such as the Internet which is the most common and current technology now. This can connect multiple players together to form a community players. This is also sometimes called browser games or online flash games that are popular because more people is using the Internet nowadays.

Social Games

This is sometimes called browser games. Online gaming has developed to another level when you do not need to install the games application to play the games and can interact with other gamers. Players can compare points and compete with each other, more fun when they invite friends over to join their community such as the Facebook games.

I still remember when I play Farmville or Backyard Monsters, I was always joking with my friends that I am busy 'planting' vegetables and harvesting fruits. I guess it can be quite amusing that in a modern world, we manage to plant tomatoes in our backyard, chopping trees to make woods, rearing chickens to sell in the market while in a minute later, busy tweeting and sms friends in our Blackberries or iphones or what-not later.



Having said that, sending and receiving gifts from friends to get into another level sometimes making my Facebook wall full with gifts and request that I do not need. After getting pages and pages of free gifts, I have found that it is a good idea to open another Facebook account to manage the games that you play.

Flash Games

This is a another browser based game that have plug-in technologies, and for flash games, we need a free browser plugin such as Adobe Flash to play the games.



Flash games online is ranging from action, adventure, role-playing, and puzzle games, to 3D first-pgerson shooters and massive multiplayer (MMOs). There are tens of thousands of games available across the web, and the applications are boundless.

Spoilt with all the choices of free fun games, I would prefer to play flash games that are related to girls games.

Girls Games

A lot of people like to play online games during leisure time, and while the perception is that most gamers consist of guys, actually girls have started to enjoy having this hobby too and takes up more than 50% gamers in the online games.



I am particularly a girl gamer in casual games as I find that it is very relaxing to play the fashion and dress up games, while devoting my time also in the Facebook games. Make up games, and some other cute cute games in the girl games such as Barbie games, Spongebob games and food game online are so light hearted and create happy active interactions, so this is my new found hobby other than watching the soap opera in the TV all the time.

Adventure Games

Adventure games introduce gamers to involve in a storyline and gamers will be having a mission or quest to solve a puzzles or mysteries in the games. The story has to be interesting with graphics and sounds as well. This will make us going to play the adventure games.



Nearly all adventure games are designed for a single player, since this emphasis on story and character makes multi-player design difficult. Puzzle games or problem solving games therefore comes within the adventure games, and with this, I will narate a little on what is a puzzle game.

Puzzle Game

Adventure games contain a variety of puzzle games, or word puzzle games such as decoding messages, finding and using items, opening locked doors, or finding and exploring new locations. Solving a puzzle will unlock access to new areas in the game world, and reveal more of the game story.

Point and Click Games

This is a game where the player interacts with the game environment and objects using an on-screen cursor. In many of these games, the mouse pointer is context sensitive in that it applies different actions to different objects.

Role Playing Games (RPG)

RPG is a broad family of games in which players assume the roles of characters, or take control of one or more avatars, in a fictional setting. Actions taken within the game succeed or fail according to a formal system of rules and guidelines.

Usually in an RPG game, you will set out on an adventure or quest, and multiplayer RPG games allows gamers to complete these quests with other gamers as allies over the Internet.

I seldom use the term RPG in my games review, as I mostly publish articles on girl games and Facebook games. However, as I find that Facebook games now have also introduce a bit of the RPG elements into the games.

Casual Games

Casual games can have any type of gameplay and can fit any genre. As for me in MabelGames, I am playing mostly girls games related kind of casual games. This is contrast to hardcore games which requires more long term commitment or special technical skills to play, although this is a generalization and does not apply to all casual games available out there.

Some of the common casual games' features include:

• Casual games are usually free on-line or free to download and try


• The goal being to present a pick-up-and-play experience that people from almost any age group or skill level could enjoy

Downloadable Games

These are the games that are available to be downloaded to your personal computers. Most of the downloadable games here have free trial play so that we can download free games:

Among the downloadable games, I found that my interest is more on the hidden object games and time management games. That is why you may have noticed there is another two categories that I will cover here.

Hidden Objects

Hidden object games is where the player must find items from a list that are hidden within a picture.

Time Management

In time management games, you will be given a limited time to complete a mission in the game, such as serving food in restaurant theme game, or serving customers in a gym related business.



This is adrenalin pumping exercise as you will need to click furiously and eyes to be fast enough to act fast, this almost always drives me crazy and craving for more!
