Doom Forge: Dawn of Legends (Alpha Stage)

After playing through Little Warrior, I was really not satisfied with the fighting games in Facebook, so I continue my search until I find Doom Forge: Dawn of Legends which is still under development by Xenao Games. This is a true 3D fighting game which is still in its Alpha Stage (Not yet completed)

Gameplay

The game does take a long time to load during the first time and due to the amount of graphic that is being pushed in this game, it is not surprising at all. Once the game loaded, the character selection screen will be presented to the players.

For now due to Alpha tested stage, all players can only choose male character. From there you will name your character (Please put something that sound terrifying or macho and not something like Pinky). After you name your character the customization screen will appear. The customization screen is very well done. It allows you to customize the type of fighter you want to be.

After customization, the instruction will kick in and it is rather straightforward really. Doom Forge tells players that this game is still under development, the bugs that they fix so far and also the game itself, all in 1 page. I have got to give the developers credit for that.

After the tutorial page, you will be taken to the main menu interface. Here you can actually get to play around with all the options that are available.

Fighting in the arena is limited to how much energy that you have. A full energy bar allows you to focus at least 4 to 5 match before needing to recharge. Good news however, as the recharge rate is very fast, roughly around 1 minute per-energy, so you do not really have to wait long in the game.

After messing around the menu a bit, I decided to actually start the fight. Clicking on the Arena will take you to the Arena options; this is where you can pick a battle with 1 of the 3 opponents. Knowing that everyone is just a beginner, there is usually not a problem here (Trust me, you rarely lose).

As the combat begin, the game will automatically take control. Slashing is done by the game itself, all you have to do is to focus on the skill set at the bottom on the screen. Click on it and release a powerful attack or counter-attack at your opponent. This skill is very useful as it will determine the outcome of your battle. Skills are charged by rage and rage is gathered by taking or inflicting damage at opponents. Once you have enough rage on your character, just press the skills you wish and release it at your opponents.

After the battle is over, reward will be presented to the victor. If you level up after a fight, you can also focus on where you wish to put your skill points at work. This is a bit of RPG element brought into the game and it is done real nicely.

Silver and gold is the main transaction currency in this game. You can earn silver in battle and gold by inviting other facebook friends to join your guild. With the currency you can then buy new armor, weapon and even skills for the next battle. So far I could not get any of the items as this game is still not played by any of my friends. So all I can do for now is to upgrade my skills to use for the next battle.

The gameplay is very done in a well manner that it is not really as dull as some of the fighting games in Facebook.

Graphic

This is the best part of Doom Forge. Players will be awe at how this game is made as the character looks very detail and the texture is done in a correct way (I did not even think this was a flash game when I first load it). During combat the animation is smooth and certain details are even added like splashing of blood. This is considered the best 3D graphic I have seen so far in any Facebook game and can be consider the best. Aside from the 3D parts, the menu and arts layout for the game is also well done.

Sound

Not much comment on the music part, which I do not recall hearing any. However, the sound of players getting hurt and groan is well done.

Conclusion

This is still at the testing period and I do hope to see more contents available once the game goes Beta. I will keep a close look out for this game when it is fully released.
