Penalty Shootout is actually one out of 3 games provided by Casualing Ltd. We first look into the soccer game is due to the reason that the World Cup Season is finally coming and we like any soccer fans out there surely will want to get into the soccer spirits before the big opening!
First off, let us look at the game itself! The game is all about penalty shootout, meaning you would not be running around the soccer field at all, but instead you will be playing as a soccer player against the goalie or vice versa.
Penalty Shootout is very simple, all you have to do as a player is to kick the ball into the goalpost. Sound simple? Very! Even an old granny can do it. When the game starts, player will be given a course of action that a player can take. Players can then choose on any 6 directions that player can kick the ball to, just by clicking on the arrow key on the screen. Once done, player will then kick the ball and hopefully get the ball into the goalpost. If player is unable to decide on the course of action in 6 second, the game will automatically choose a target for the player and kick it.
After every round, player will then change side with the game AI or real opponents (depending on luck). This is where player will play as a goalie and defend themselves from allowing their opponents to score a goal in the net. I find this part a bit frustrating as this is all based on luck really and usually I will just let the game choose the action for me.
Once player completed 5 rounds of the game, the final score will determine if player won or lost. During the first time into the game, player will not lose anything. However if player decides to continue playing, player will have to invest something called VCash as a betting. Win and lose is really depending on players luck.
Graphics
Looks like a soccer game, feels like a soccer game. The animation on this game is smooth, but rather limited really. Nothing much I can say here. Aside from the message board in front of you which gives you real time (at times outdated) broadcast, there is really nothing impressive about it. Aside from the limited animations and layout, players can only choose 4 types of character to play with. 2 males and 2 females, player cannot even customize the player’s uniform.
Sound
Well at least the sound is good. You will hear real voice especially on the GOAL part. Music is rather repetitive and while you are loaded into the main game there is no music whatsoever.
Conclusion
I find this game rather unsatisfactory, but I will leave it up for you to decide. Since the World Cup Season is coming and there is really not much Facebook game on Soccer, I really like to see something that brings the spirit of the World Cup to me before the big Kick Off.
