Pool Master

Pool Master is one of the so called quick games I found in Facebook which is developed by Socialgames. This short review we will take a look at how this game hold up to other games in Facebook and is it worth playing?

Gameplay

Pool Master as the name prescribes, it is a Pool game, just like snooker, but comes in different colors balls and different rules. However the same rules apply. Just shot the ball into the hole.

When first started the game, Pool Master has 2 options, the Play button and the Rules button. Hitting the Rules actually tells you something simple; just get a ball into the hole and you get 4 second extra of what remain of the 2 minutes gameplay time (keep in mind that this is a short game).

Alright, once done clicking on the Rules button, it is time to click on the Play button. As soon as I click the play button, the game takes me to a quick tutorial of how the control works, not much to learn, just point and hold the mouse button and release.

If my memory serves me correctly, it is not that I am very good in this table sports, but I thought pool actually have rules? I mean they put the color and numbers there for a reason, right? Well unsure of the rules, I just hit the balls with my white ball. The game controls are very easy to handle with a mouse and the white ball will shot at the direction you point it too. The momentum of the balls also depends on how much force you use to hit the balls.

Another feature I notice is that when you point your stick (the white ball a targeting options will lid up, only at the ball and not at any other direction you are pointing at. So if you are thinking of doing any fancy trick over the game, you can only rely on your own judgment.

Scoring is also rather simple, put the ball into the hole and score 100. Get a combo and the score will increase. Get a super combo and well you get the general idea. If you make the wrong move and get the white ball into the hole by mistake, you get a -300 in score! Nice, so do not miss or overshoot here.

The bottom of the screen will also show you the multiply score, time and so on. Very useful when you need to keep track of how much time left before the game is over. Do keep in mind that you only have 2 minutes during the beginning of the game and the timer does not reset. It will keep going until it runs out. This feels a bit dragging since you have to try to complete each level as fast as you can.

Graphic

Pool Master has a very nice 3D look on the ball. Movement on the balls itself is very smooth and no lag or hiccups at all.

Sound

There is just a basic ball hitting ball sound. So I could not comment much on this feature.

Conclusion

Well like I said this is a short game. Suitable for those who only want to have a quick game while resting their mind on the things they are doing. One thing I do not fancy about is the annoying pop-ups, it can really drives one nuts with it.

I personally give this game a 3 out of 5 rating.

  3. does anyone know where to find additional rules? For example - on one of the tables - there are balls set up in each corner - are these worth more points? I've also had an episode where the cue ball appears to be on fire - what does this mean? This game is a lot of fun but it would be very helpful to have some additional info on scoring, etc.

  4. @ glm777, a good tip would be to pause the game every time u make a shot. I know it sounds ridiculus but, the game keeps going on but the time stops, thus avoid wasting a lot of seconds till the white stops moving. also make sure to score consecutive points to get the level ups and gain more points for each score you make. as for the additional rules, will keep you posted on this.
