Story line

In Midnight Mysteries Salem Witch Trials, you have to solve mysteries for the death of Hawthorne, one of your favorite authors, who was tormented and suffering. The game started with an impressive and eye catching introduction for the mysteries and visions of people dancing around a camp fire and then people being hanged, with sound FX and eerie music. It is almost like you are watching movie at the theater for this game.



Game play

As with any other games that has a story mode, this game also has some clues and explanation on the each scene written in a book form. When you have picked up any of the related hidden object, the book pages will be updated with the latest clues. Always check out and click on the book picture that is located at the left bottom part of the screen, especially when the book has blue sprinkles or shines on it. From there you will understand the story behind each place and move towards to find the clues that can help you to solve the mystery.



Follow the list of items and find all the hidden objects. For this game, there is no real penalty if we click too many times at the wrong place. The only inconvenience is that the bottle of hints will be taken away momentarily. And it will be returned back to you after a couple of seconds’ interval.



One potential tendency that may occur is that we may click blindly and manage to solve the hidden object list without much scrutiny at the items listed. Also for each item that we find, the hidden object list is grayed out, instead of the strikethrough that most hidden object has. Due to this, sometimes we did not even notice the name for the item that we accidentally clicked on.



Some of the hidden object items that you have found will be useful for you to fix the puzzle. Some of the items could be added together to form a complete item. For example, a spade, with the spade’s handle can be put together to form a useful tool before you can use it on the exact place.



There are different types of cursors that indicate the inventory tool is needed. You may have it already, or you may still need to find it. Another cursor that look like eyeball means that there is something interesting about the item, click on the item to find out more. Just be sure to move your cursor throughout the whole screen in order not to miss any important object.



Occasionally, the ghost of Hawthorne will come to visit you, in a sudden graphic effect and give you the clues. Be sure to find out the clues that are pointed out. They might be the place that can lead to the clue or it can be only one of the steps to solve the mystery. One clue will lead to another.



Some of the ghost or statue that you encounter will speak to you and leak out important information to you. Unlock the clue or give them some rewards in order to approach them.



They will then provide the access to the place they guard and new places will be found! The more places you have been to, the more closer you are to help Hawthorne.



This leads to different beautiful sceneries and this is really a great job for the developer on this game. There are really a lot of hidden details we discover. Each closet or bag or door may lead to more items to find. And each door or entrance may lead to a totally different place. There will also be flash back on what was happening at that time or era when you click at the right place.



Conclusion

Overall, thumbs up for Midnight Mysteries: Salem Witch Trials. Really additive and fun game and we barely noticed time has passed when we played this game.
