Nightclub City

Unable to wait for the night to come? Stuck in office, but still want to party like an animal? Well in Facebook you can do just that. When you’re working that is and wanted to escape the stress of office life. This week Mabel Games will take you to the Night life of Nightclub City.

Gameplay

The gameplay for Nightclub City is the same as the one use in Cafe World. During the first look, the game itself maybe using the same type of game engine used in Cafe World. This is not really a bad thing as I can see a few improvements from the original game engine.

When the game loads, players will be introduced to the character creation screen; this is where player can choose to be a male of female DJ. Yes, you will be the DJ of your own club. The game tutorial is quite fast and easy to follow. After a few click, players will be accustomed to how the game works. This is where I find the game to my liking really, no complication.



Once the club is open player will be responsible for running the club the way they see fit. The main goal of this game is to get more customers and get the popularity rate up as much as possible. To do this, players have a few ways to accomplish their goal. First off, as a DJ, player will be responsible to keep the music going and to my surprise there are some nice collections of clubbing music available in this game. Aside from letting the music roll, DJ also have to attract the customers to dance and buy drinks. Once in a while if you the DJ notice a depress customer, player can usually select a special song for that particular customer to cheer him or her up.



What’s a club if there is no serving of “Pain! Good Bye-Bye Juice” (Beer and Alcohol in short). The game comes with a bar which allows your bartender to serve drinks for your customer. Drinks are served in two methods, bottoms up which will be quick serving or Bar Trick. Bar Trick takes longer to serve, but generate extra tips as your bartender will perform special tricks to attract the customer’s attention. Players will also have to keep their eyes on the drink meter as it notify player when to restock their drink for those entire thirsty customer.

Trouble is never far behind when you’re running a nightclub. There will always be drunker and troublemakers that will ruin the wonderful night atmosphere. Once player reach a certain level in the game, they can hire bouncer to help keep an eye of the place.

Bouncer will usually keep the crowd in place and if there is any problem occurred, the little troublemaker will usually be carry out of the club. I for one find this rather interesting, however at times the bouncer will just stand around looking aimlessly when there is a fight in front of him. Player at times will have to manually select the troublemaker to be thrown out of the club. (Be careful, else you might throw someone out by mistake since the club is full of people).



To increase your club fame, players can also invite special celebrities to visit your club. However to ask this special guest, player will have to fork out some cash in order to do so. Yet, it does make sense! A club that is visited by famous celebrities usually will attract more crowds.

Decorations also play an important role in this game. You are running a club so player will always have to ensure that their club is up to standard with other clubs. Making your dream club is not really hard, player just need to have enough “green” to do it only and getting the “green” is rather easy in this game. Players need remember to upgrade their DJ Equipment and also Bar during the beginning of the game. The better the DJ Equipment the longer you can let the music run.

Visiting other player’s club is also fun especially when you can play as a special guest DJ and also to buy the house a drink.



One of the flaws of the game I do notice is the character customization screen. Player cannot just test out the clothing, but instead once you put it on your character, you will automatically buy it. Let us hope that this feature is fixed in the following upgrade. Another big issue is that if the system is disconnected from the server, there is no warning message popping up. So to all players, remember to click on the save option often.

Graphic

Very beautiful game, although not 3D, all characters in the game is presented in a cell shading technology. I particularly like how the developers do to the dance floor which will change the pattern of lights as it move. All animation is made in a very smooth manner even when there is like 20 plus character moving all around the screen.

Sound

Best part of the game, the music is really nice to listen to as most of the songs are meant for clubbing purposes. However the songs itself does need an update really. Even when the songs is good, but there is just limited choices of songs players can choose from. (Roughly 3 songs and trust me, you will get bored after 20 minutes listening to all 3 over and over again).

However, I do find one song which really catch my attention, particular the one by ‘DJ Earworm - United State of Pop 2009’ (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNzrwh2Z2hQ)  which I find a lot of Nightclub City players consider their favorites.

Conclusion

I am not the type who loves clubbing, but seeing this game did so well in creating the atmosphere of clubbing, I would really recommend people who love to try something new to try this game out. It’s really interesting and the music is rather enjoyable.
