Virtuo Sport Summer

Mountain Biking, Rock Climbing and Kayaking, all these sport games sound a bit adventures or extreme to some people. However, for those who are really curious in these sorts of games, look no further as Mabel Games will be reviewing Virtuo Sport Summer this week and see what Soleil Rouge had installed for us.

Gameplay

Virtuo Sport Summer consists of 3 games. The game itself is rather simple and unique at the same time. All the sports game is presented in flash format and comes with a training course before player jumps into the game. The games is made for all ages and for those who is really into this sort of sport games may find it rather interesting too.

The first thing I discovered when I was asked to review Virtuo Sport was that all new comers will need to register an account with Soleil Rouge first before they are able to access the games. Usually I find this feature a bit troublesome, but it turns out that Soleil Rouge did something right in for once. The process is easy to follow and after like a few second of registration, player will be able to login to their new account.

Once players completed the registration process, players will be taken to the main lobby. While in the main lobby players will have the option to choose the type of games that player test out first. Players will also have an option to check on the leader’s board which will provide player with the current information on the current top players for all the 3 individual games. This feature will allow players to keep track on where they are and how much they need to achieved to be the top dog for the week.

After I am satisfied in exploring the main lobby a bit, I decide to try out one of the games that are on the screen. Before I was able to get to the game, the developer will provide some interesting facts and information to players regarding the country they are visiting and the special landmark that comes along with it. Most of the information will come with a very detail picture of the countries landmark and player can enlarge the picture by clicking on it. Great information and a salute to Soleil Rouge for providing such useful information to new comers and also season sport player.

Now we look into the 3 games, controls are more or less the same so there is not much to look at really. All the games will provide player with a training session before player decide to jump into the game itself. The training course is done rather nicely and you learn as you play along. With easy and short notes that provided on screen during the game, I find that I have no problem following the game tutorial myself.

First game that I tried was Rock Climbing. I find this game a bit of challenging at first due to the fact that I need to learn which rock surface I need to be and to keep my eyes on the stamina bar. However after 1 round into the training, I find the game’s rather interesting.

This game basically need player to find the correct spot to hang on too while climbing up the summit. Different surface has different grip. The 4 orbs around the player’s diagram will indicate how well the player has a grip on the surface of the rock. Like all the game in Virtuo Sports, there will be a stamina bar on the bottom of the screen to indicate the status of the player. If player stamina reaches to a dangerous level, a heart beep sound will be trigger to player to slow down and regain their strength before continue to what they are doing.

Like in real life, Rock Climbing will provide player mark check points as they climb the summit. This is only used in case players fall off from the surface of the rock to their unfortunate doom. However, thanks to the wonders of internet and flash games, falling in this game is not the end of the world, but it might cost players their bonus and XP points.

Once players learn to master the game, rarely the check point is in use and scoring perfect is really easy from there on. Player just needs to be observant in the game and keep their eyes on the 4 orbs and their stamina bar.

The next game that I find was River Kayaking which turns out to be a rather simple game, yet very exciting to play with as I find myself panicking each time I hit to cove. The control of the game is easy to pick up and even if player takes the training course or not, does not really matter much.

The game does have a direction arrow indicating the speed of the river flow. All players have to do is to navigate their way to the end of the river and try not to his any checkpoints on their way there.

The last game in Virtuo Sports that I have tried out was Mountain Biking. The goal in this game is all about riding your bike from the top of the hill all the way down to the surface without crashing your bike or your player.

Control is easy to pick up. After going through the game a few times, all players have to do is to keep an eye on their stamina bar and remember to hit the break as they go down the hill. Going down the hill too fast will only cause the player to crash and lose points, so take it slowly. Usually players will be able to complete this game in less than 1 minute.

Once player completes either one of the 3 games, the developer will throw in a quiz for the player to answer before showing player their current result. The quiz is presented in a trivia format with 4 objective answers to each question. I find the quiz a bit hard for me for being new to this sort of sports game. However for to those who is really knows their geography should have no problem answering the question and getting additional bonus points.

Final, but not least, points score in the game may also help improve player’s avatar skill set. This skill set will allow player to distribute out according to player’s liking. Each of the point spent will allow player to have better control over the 3 individual games that is present in the website. Nice feature really as the developer’s throw in a bit of RPG elements into a sport game.

However, I would like to see my custom made avatar appear in the flash game aside from just the main lobby area. Just hope that the developer will provide that during their next update on the game.

Now after the game is over. We will look at the world map feature. The world map is used to keep track on the progress of the players in all 3 games. Each game will have its own landmark to visit. As player’s progress to the game, more areas will be unlocked for player’s to explore and to challenge their skills with other player. However, there is a minor detail that players need to know. For normal registration, only 3 areas will be open to players. To access the rest of the map around the globe, players will have to subscribe fully to Soleil Rouge. Players can always visit the information page in Soleil Rouge to get more info on what they get for full subscription.

All in all, I do find this game really fun and a bit addictive especially if you like sports game.

I give this game 4 out of 5 as some of the information provided during the loading screen is rather informative.

  1. This game is awesome!!! It's so nice to see someone doing something different and actually putting some thought into the gameplay and the details. I love the idea of travelling across the world to attempt the different challenges and with the photos and fact sheets for the different destinations, it just adds to the experience.
